"Never Give Up!" ~ A Prince's dream to become a Princess By Muto Hiromu Disclaimer: I don't need to do this, do I? I'm not gaining/earning anything from this, I don't own 'Never Give Up', the wonderful Muto Hiromu does. I'm just a fan trying to help promote her work =) Indications: Sidetext = usually a character's thoughts placed outside speech bubbles. I'll point out in brackets who the character is… it can also be a sound or action ( ) = actions or tiny texts next to character's main speech/thoughts eg) Natsu – I doubt it (really…) or Kiri: (thinks) really? Bubble = once again, usually a character's thoughts " " = usually flashbacks of what someone had said. I'll try to point flashbacks out when I see them… [note: ] = things I feel need to explain or if I feel like rambling ~ Anything else should be fairly obvous… if not, feel free to ask me! =) Notes: These are loose translations because I'm lazy… =p Nah, I just realised that by translating word for word, the translation no longer flows the way proper speech should. Thus, what you see below is how I've translated. "In a nutshell" is basically a summary of what happened in a chapter. So if you find the translation confusing or simply don't have time to read the translation but still want to know what happens "In a nutshell" is the place you look. Even if I have to be disguised as a guy, as long as I can stay next to Touya, I feel it is all worth it. Kiri: ----------…. (sneaking past!) Sidetext: (Kiri) yet… troubles rushes upon me like an avalanche until everything is out of my control. Now I'm stuck in the midst of it all. (sneaks past a pair of girls looking at a picture of "Tatsuki" & Touya in a magazine) Sidetext: (Kiri) right now, "Tatsuki's" name is spread throughout the country, & because I'm a girl, I have to hide and keep my identity a secret." If the truth is revealed, not only will I lose my modelling career, but my whole family will be in debts & we'll be forced to commit suicide. Sidetext: (Kiri) I can't betray mother, so I'm sinking further & further… Sidetext: (Kiri) And now, I've reached the point where the possibility of my identity being exposed will increase just by walking together with Touya. In other words, aside from when I'm disguised as "Tatsuki", I have to stay away from Touya at all times. Kiri: -----------….. Sidetext: (Kiri) But still…. How can I lose to my own desires-------!! Natsu: (in the background) Whether she's emotionally unstable, mentally deranged, or just exposing her true self, that's going to be a problem. (this) Kiri: Natsu… (you're so mean…) Natsu: no, I'm serious. Natsu: you might not be able to talk to him, but at least you two are together at work. Isn't that a good thing? Kiri: I think I might have been misunderstood… Sidetext: (Kiri) yesterday, when Akira confessed to me, I panicked, &… Flashback: (Akira) "I…" (pg 174) Flashback: "want to become Princess Kiri's prince". Sidetext: (Kiri) Something like this would immediately be found to be a joke after a little consideration. But maybe because I panicked…. Flashback: (Kiri) "You should be saying this kind of things to she herself!" Sidetext: (Kiri) Somehow… It was probably a trap of some sort I fell right into… Touya just left without saying a thing… but…. Kiri: After that, he wouldn't even make eye contact with me, let alone talk…. Natsu: (smile!) Idiot. (Really…) Kiri: to tell you the truth… I was happy, to be seen as a princess… I've been working so hard towards that dream; this is the first time I've been acknowledged. Natsu: Are you sure he isn't just playing around with you? (Really, are you serious? I thought you'd know better.) Kiri: (flees!) that's why! I was so overtaken by the keyword "princess", I didn't even notice something simple like this! Natsu: See? If you can't face reality, & keep trying to escape, then…. Natsu: Hey, you're about to crash into someone! (Oi---- are you listening to me?) Kiri: Huh? (crash?) (finally notices the girl she's about to crash into…) Girl: Ah….! Kiri: whoa! Sorry!! (girl falls right into Kiri's arms….) Kiri: I'm so sorry, are you okay? Girl: (starry-eyed) mn, I'm okay *heart* Kiri: (thinks) crap, I…. *sweatdrop* Natsu: Seems like you're well-versed as a prince, ne? (hohoho…) Sidetext: (Kiri) Strike! Kiri: (runs off crying) NOOOOO--------!! Natsu: "situation reversed"… what a scary prospect… (tears!) Sidetext: (Kiri) But, there's no other way, to become Touya's princess… to stay by his side, I must pretend to be a man. Sidetext: (Kiri) Besides, a half-male would never exist in this world, so I must do everything I can to become a real "man". Sidetext: (Kiri) all this, just so I can stay by Touya's side… Kiri: (stops) -------… Sidetext: Strange? Kiri: -------… (hm….) If this continues, Touya is never gonna get any rest! He's already tired out just from being at school! (And being a model is very tiring!) (notices a figure) Kiri: (thinks) Ah! Sidetext: (Kiri) If he walks to the gate just like this & gets caught---- Ribbon: Kiri's imagination (A bunch of youma-looking girls with fangs) Sidetext: (Kiri) Touya might not be able to handle them & collapse from fatigue! Sidetext: (Kiri) Ahhhh! Don't go over there! You'll be eaten----! Kiri: (thinks) oh no! What do I do!? Sidetext: (Kiri) If I go now, I may be discovered, but I can't just stand here & watch! (they're still there *vein*) But the important thing is, I don't want to see Touya suffer anymore!! Sidetext: (Kiri) Haa---------! (pg 181) (sound of Kiri's rushing footsteps… grabs Touya by the arms & start dragging him to the opposite direction from the gate) Touya: Whaa!? Touya: what the….? Kiri!? Kiri: Not the front entrance! (pg. 182) Kiri: There's a bunch of girls waiting at the front gate!! So don't go that way!! Kiri: You look tired & hurting, Touya! I don't want to see you that way! Seeing you like that, I feel hurt too! So… Kiri: Let's run away together! Sidetext: (Kiri) I…. Sidetext: (Kiri) Hugs tighter! Bubble: (Kiri) seem to have just made a very wild statement & action!? Kiri: (thinks) Waa------! This is just like eloping!? (no?) (or should I say kidnapping, or holding hostage!?) Sidetext: (Kiri) And, even under such circumstances, my heart is racing… Kiri: (thinks) Can he take this? Or is he mad? (peeks) (Touya seems to be smiling… sound of heartbeat) Sidetext: (Kiri) He's smiling ~~~~~! I haven't seen that for a long time now! (cries) Sidetext: (Kiri) Sprints! Arrow: (Kiri) Accelerates merrily. Touya: (still being dragged) Whaa!? Sidetext: (Kiri) Maybe I can finally explain to him, as soon as I can pass through that back gate… I have to unravel all the misunderstandings… & then…. Akira: Yo! Sidetext: (Kiri & Touya) WHAT!? Bubble: (Kiri) Why would Akira be at a place like this------!? Akira: Long time no see-------- *heart* how are you-------? (pg 185) (Silence) Touya: …… Bubble: (Kiri) things are NOT going well! *sweatdrops* Kiri: (thinks) he has his timing down… I didn't think he'd really show up… *sweatdrops* Kiri: (thinks) Alright, I should probably just solve the misunderstandings first. Sidetext: (Kiri) even…. Even though I'm not really sure what is going on, but Touya admitted it…!? (pg 197) Bubble: (Kiri) Can this be, a one-in-a-million chance for me to confess!? (ok, I have to tell him, I have to!) Kiri: (blushing) li…. Listen to me, Touya, I…..! Touya: ------- you certainly seem happy…. Touya: to be Akira's princess. Sidetext: (Kiri) HUH!? Kiri: ---------….. (um-----) Kiri: A… Akira? (why?) Sidetext: (Kiri) What the? Strange? Huh? Touya: I guess that's the way things are, probably better to look natural like an average couple, Touya: Prince Akira & Princess Kiri…… Sidetext: (Kiri) Wait a minute, stop…. Kiri: (shock!) Sidetext: (Kiri) What's this!? Touya: so that's it, hn----- Kiri: To…. Touya….? This…. (Touya gives her an unreadable expression, then turns around & walks away) Kiri: oh….! Sidetext: (Kiri) wait… this is… Sidetext: (Kiri) do you mean…. Are you saying….. Sidetext: (Kiri) what do I do? Sidetext: (Kiri) do you mean I'm not suited to be Touya's princess…..? End of chapter 6, volume 1 In a nutshell: A slip from Kiri earlier causes somewhat of a misunderstanding between her & Touya. Forbidden to be too close to Touya whilst she is in "girl-form", Kiri can only watch helplessly as Touya is mobbed by crowds of fan-girls which seems to be increasing each day. After running away from the realization that her "princely" qualities continues to grow instead of her "princess" ones, she becomes conscious of the fact that she might be losing sight of her dreams & what she truly desires: to become a princess for Touya. After school, Kiri notices the state of Touya's weariness as she spies on him from behind a tree. She stops him from going out the front entrance, where mobs of fan-girls from other schools are waiting, & drags him to the back exit, all the while telling him she doesn't want to see him hurting anymore (it also sounded like a declaration of love & a suggestion for elopement of some sort…. ^^;;). At the back entrance, however, they see Akira, who "formally" asks Kiri for a chance to be her prince, rubbing in the fact Touya has no confidence in himself as a prince for Kiri at the same time. Before Kiri has a chance to decline, a mass of fan- girls appears, & Akira tells Kiri to run whilst he holds them off. As both Touya & Kiri walks off, he states that Kiri appears much like a princess…. *Akira's* princess. Translator's ramblings: "Extra's" might be translated at a later date… I need to find out some of the names in them (in hiragana/romanji) first… meanwhile, I'll start on chapter 7… ^o^ All thanks to Didi for her excellent editing!
