The chapter starts out with a peaceful bird's-eye-view of the city and Kazuma, humming a tune and balancing a pencil on his mouth, while he's lying down on the roof of a building. He turns over and says, "Hn! I did it!"
Narrate: "That summer, I wrote a song."
He tells the other Yin Yang members and they want to hear it, to which he blushingly agrees. He sings for them, but then they can't help it any more. It looks like they're having a hard time holding in their laughter, but they wait until Kazuma finishes the song before they burst out laughing. Atsuya's the only one not laughing, although he seems very embarassed. We get to find out what the song was about because Ushio starts quoting him, ""'I, who was defeated, has an opportunistic body shedding blood colored metalic green, metalic green' he says!! And then suddenly to triple time~~~~~~ He's adding in a "mecha human" 's sorrow~~~~~~~~~~~~~Master!! M..Make more!! Make us laugh with your songs~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" ^^;
Atsuya gives him some credit for effort. It's still pretty simple... and the lines are pretty absurd... He advices him not to get too creative, but Kazuma's style is good. He should keep on working on it. Kazuma thinks, "But it was more fun trying even a little than studying..." Ushio's still busy mocking him.. ^^; Poor Kazuma.
But then Atsuya announces that Kazuma's going to be having summer break.
Atsuya: "By the way, Kazuma's going to be on summer break soon. We're going to have an intense live this summer. We've passed out the schedules before. It's a big event and there's going to be a big turn-out, so everybody be careful not to wear yourselves out, ne."
Kazuma, excited: "Ah---- I want to sing already"
He comments that he's happy he gets to sing a lot.
Kazuma: "Recently, i've wanted to sing so much, it's unbearable. I'm running out of patience. I feel like I'm going to explode of I don't sing."
Later, he just walks through the streets, thinking: "Why can't everybody sing? It's fun, it's likeable, overflowing with so much feeling, that I don't think normal conversations are enough. Ah.. I want to sing. I want to sing---------- Recently, I've been thinking about what I should do. I'll sing more than I'm able to sing, singing isn't enough. I'm starving for it. My heart and body feel like they're changing quickly."
In Kanagawa Prefecture High School:
Yukino: "Eh------ Maho-san, you're going to a 'YinYang' live?"
Maho: "That's right... That's cuz I'm a fan!!" (arrow pointing to Maho reads "deceptive and deep type")
Tsubaki: "He----------h, I've never been to an Indies live."
Yukino: "That's the band that Tsubasa's otouto is in, right?" (otouto = little brother)
Souichirou: "......Well... I want to go, too"
Off-shot: "Arima!?"
Maho (?): Well, then, I want to go, too. Truth is, I wanted to try going once."
Tsubaki: "Me, too"
Aya: "I'm interested in that world, too."
Rika: "Wah. Me, too."
Yukino: "Well, shall we all go together?"
But while they're all making class, Tsubasa just keeps silent to the side. Finally they turn to her, and ask: "Tsubasa-chan, you probably go to 'YinYang' live, right?"
Tsubasa: "No. I don't know much about music."
Off-shot: "It's too good. It's your chance, Tsubasa-chan."
Tsubasa: "Ok."
Tsubasa tells Kazuma about it as they walk home.
Kazuma, blushing ( ^^; ): "Arima-kun, to the live!?"
Tsubasa: "The others are coming, too."
Kazuma: "Eh-------- Eh---------- Eh---------- What am I gonna do!! Uwa-------- I'm so nervous!!"
Tsubasa: "......... (Are you listening?)"
Kazuma: "(Arima-kun......*heart*)"
Tsubasa: "(Why does he like that so much?)"
Kazuma: "Tsubasa, you're coming, too?"
Tsubasa: "Yeah."
Kazuma, smiling: "It'll be the first time you come to the live, ne. Well, then. I'll especially do my best on the day Tsubasa comes, ne."
Tsubasa looks at him. He smiles at her, then looks forward. They walk along some more, but then Tsubasa stops. Kazuma keeps on walking, not noticing.
Tsubasa thinks: "I know"
Kazuma: "Tsubasa!? I'm sorry! I was spacing out."
Tsubasa: "Nah, it's ok."
Tsubasa thinks again: "Kazuma-chan's heart can't be compared with other people's. It's weakly related to his body. It goes somewhere else freely. At those times, even though I'm right by his side, he's so far away. Recently, those times are getting to be a lot. That's why, I, in my heart, am gradually growing to hate the "music" that's snatching Kazuma-chan away from me."
Narrate: "Summer break came."
You see the people busy in the streets. Kazuma-chan leaves for his live to come back when the family's usually having breakfast. His mother worries because high school students don't usually do that, but he just responds sleepily that it was an all-night live.
During the summer, they gradually grow more and more popular. People are surprised when their friends don't know who "YinYang" are... Their CD's are selling out quickly in music stores. They represent individuality in the media scene.. or something like that. ^^; They're big talk on the radio station, and their songs are on the radio all the time. People hear them everywhere.......... Even Tsubasa, who turns off the radio.
On the night that the gang go to a live, they're excited. Aya comments that it's a big place. But an excited Maho just says that since it's summer break, it's a big event. Tsubasa, on the other hand, doesn't seem that excited. Asapin notices (wow! asapin's so observant!) and offers to lift her up, but she shrugs it off. The YinYang live starts and an enthused Kazuma is singing his heart out.
Yukino: "No way... That's the same Kazuma-kun...!? But he's great."
Ushio: "That Kazuma gets better day by day."
Kazuma seems to be floating. Narrate (Kazuma): "Ahh.. Awe. In this flood of sound, in the swirl of people screaming (?), I'm absorbing the world turning white. It's like a world that existed before I was even born. The greatest pleasure. Knowing this pleasure, I can't live ordinarily any more."
As the crowd cheers for YinYang, Asapin notices that she's gone off. She heads away from the place. Narrate (Tsubasa): "I know. What's calling Kazuma-chan from so far away. It's 'music.' Kazuma-chan didn't choose 'music'. 'Music' chose Kazuma-chan. How am I going to compete with that? Somday, 'music' is going to take Kazuma-chan away. Kazuma-chan won't choose me. THAT'S WHY I HATE 'MUSIC'".
After the live, the gang come out to see Kazuma. "Kazuma-kun!!" Arima goes running towards him. "Arima-kun!!!" he responds... They clasp hands, blushing, while the band thinks "Who's that bishounen!!" and Yukino looks at them with a "Hm.." look.
Kazuma: "Woooooow! You really came!!"
Arima: "Yeah. It was great, it was great.. Really cool!"
Maho's blushing in the background and the other band members say they're tired. Kazuma, then asks, "Are, where's Tsubasa?"
Asapin: "She just left all of a sudden. It looks like she was heading home."
Kazuma's surprised.
He goes home and his mom opens the door.
Kazuma: "Tadaima---- Where's Tsubasa?"
Mom: "Okaeri. She's tired, so she went to sleep."
He goes, knocking on her door, but she doesn't answer. Inside, she's pretending to be asleep.
The next day, Kazuma's out walking.
Kazuma, thinks: "I wonder what's wrong with Tsubasa. She hasn't been lively lately. (image of him laughing and her just being speechless). Well, Tsubasa's an ojousama after all, maybe she got scared of the live." But then he recognizes three figures. It's Tsubaki, Aya, and Rika. "Those are Tsubasa's friends. They came to the live last night. What should I do? I wonder if I should say 'Thanks for coming last night'..." But he hides around the corner as the girls start talking.
Tsubaki: "But yesterday was great. Tsubasa's become siblings with such a great guy."
Rika: "Whenever she talks about Kazuma-kun, she's always so happy."
Tsubaki: "At one time, I wondered what would happen to her, but hey, the last year's been really hectic. Her beloved father got remarried. Arima-kun, who she liked so much and has been chasing after 'til high school, chose Yukinon. I was thinking how nice it is that Tsubasa can finally be happy."
Kazuma thinks: "Eh?"
