f.requently a.sked q.uestions
i've just watched episodes 1-26 of karekano. is there any more?
nope, unfortunately. there's only 26... no more than that.
why did they do that? is that an anno thing?
they stopped the anime right there because it caught up to the latest
installment of the manga (act 35), and it just happened to coincide with the
magic number 26 (1 season). the anime follows the manga *very* closely,
except for two of the episodes entitled "a story unlike what has gone
before".... it has been noted that the manga could practically be the script
word for word for the anime... well, except for the flashback episode and
the flashbacks they do in the beginning..... ^^;
will there be a second season?
according to the gainax panel at ax2002, there will NOT be a second season, due to a conflict of interests between gainax and tsuda masami. apparently gainax wants karekano for the comedy but tsuda has different plans.
so is there more to the story?
yes! that's the good thing! the manga is still running in hakusensha's lala.
check the manga section for more details. if you want to start right off from where the anime ended, you want to go with volume 8.
where can i get a copy of the anime?
tRSI (the Right Stuf International) has the rights for north american distribution. check out your local store.
but those don't subtitle the on-screen text!
actually.. they do. check your settings on the main menu. the dvds that tRSI are releasing have a second angle option that subtitles the on screen text.
where can i get a copy of the manga?
tokyopop has the rights for north american distribution of the manga. i will not be serving scanslations on this site. you can check your local bookstores (as well as amazon.com) for a copy. i will be keeping my own (crappy) translations up until told to take them down.
where can i get my hands on the untranslated manga?
you can get karekano from your local kinokuniya (provided you have one)... for online stores, you can try: sasuga books, acclimate solutions (based in japan, dealing with new and used books), bookmart (based in japan, as well, i believe, dealing with used books, not sure they carry karekano, though), or animart.
i see you've got translations only to the later chapters. are you doing the earlier
ones, too?
well, i am planning on doing it.. but it's coming along rather slowly since i'm
working on other stuff (check playing with words for other translating projects and phoebe's domain for a general gist of my whole page.. ^^;) for karekano,
i'm mainly concentrating on the later chapters because it's the part barely anybody knows
about. as mentioned, you can follow the first 8 books of the manga based on the anime.. ^^
i was thinking of translating the manga, as well....
okay, so that's not really a question. but all i have to say is, i'd love to see
your version. :) and i'd love to get some help. i'll put in your name on the
manga page. just tell me what name you'd prefer and if you'd like your e-mail address on
it.
could you get me........?
i'm really sorry.. i'm not very good at sending people things through airmail. if you
lived anywhere near me, i'd love to act as a median to get your merchandising needs..
but as it is, dealing with the post office is not all that great for me.. ^^;
etc, etc...
i do appreciate all comments, criticisms, contributions, and suggestions. thanks a lot!
if there's anything else you'd like to ask, then please feel free to
email me.
